Bibliography

Excerpts from the manuscript  “Wild Bill Crump”, written by S.E Crump and (c) J.W.CRUMP & S.E.CRUMP.

The primary sources for this book have been Bill Crump’s flight log book, his commemorative mission scroll presented by the Squadron at the end of his tour, a series of over thirty letters and numerous phone calls between him and Shaun Crump over a period of three years to detail and discuss Bills flying career and experiences in the E.T.O.

In addition extensive use has been made of the information contained within the 356th Fighter Group diary and the 359th, 360th, and 361st Squadron diaries held at the Air Force Historical Research Agency at Maxwell Air Force base Alabama. Copies of these diaries were purchased from the AFHRA on 16mm microfilm.

Roll Bo314 356th FG up to Sept 1944, Roll B0315 356th FG Sept 1944 on,

Roll A0784A 359th SQ (part), Roll A0785 359th (part), 360th, 361st SQ’s.

All 8th Air Force mission data such as number of aircraft dispatched/effective, losses, enemy aircraft claims, bomb tonnage etc are taken from the United States European War Strategic Bombing Survey Summary Report, published by the U.S. Goverment Printing office, Washington, in 1946.

All other sources are as detailed ;-
